The local governor of Bursa has announced that the excavations that aim to unearth a 1,500-year-old Byzantine basilica.

The basilica was used as an area of worship during the early years of Christianity once this religion was accepted by the Roman Emperor Constantine. Like this building, many other places located in populated areas became areas of worship. The basilica that is now intended to be unearthed was also a place where pilgrims on their way to Mecca stopped.

Bursa has a history spanning 8,000 years and it is one of the cities where Christianity began to take the shape it does today.

The excavations and studies on the basilica have the collaboration of foreign authorities, academics and the Ministry of Culture, in addition, the work is expected to cost 1.1 million euros.

I was born in Madrid on August 27, 1988 and since then I started a work of which there is no example. Fascinated by both numbers and letters and a lover of the unknown, that is why I am a future graduate in Economics and Journalism, interested in understanding life and the forces that have shaped it. Everything is easier, more useful and more exciting if, with a look at our past, we can improve our future and for that… History.
